Fundamentals of safe rigging and lift validation

A crane rated for 10 tonnes at an 8-metre radius may handle only 6 tonnes at 14 metres. Miss that on the crane chart, accept a sling angle that is too flat or load a shackle from the side, and a routine lift becomes an incident. This micro-learning by Proost & Partners and Loxygen refreshes the fundamentals that keep every lift controlled and predictable.
You confirm crane suitability from verified weight, centre of gravity and the chart at the actual radius, including dynamic forces and a stable base for mobile cranes. You check slings, shackles, spreader beams and lifting points against the lift plan, with the hook over the centre of gravity. You then run the validation lift, set exclusion zones, recognise the stop-work triggers and document the decision. The module is a refresher. It does not replace a site-specific lift plan, an engineering review or a competent supervisor
